Reduced!!This auction is for a pair of lovely 12 1/2 matching Chinese cloisonne ginger jars with lids. The ground is Black with cloisonne clouds of gold wire. There are two large dragons on each jar chasing a flaming pearl in the clouds over water. The colors are Black , green, gold, oringe, white, blue, red, black and lavender enamel.$500 each jar.
The insides of the lids & jars and the bottoms are finished in blue enamel. The jars are marked they are Republic (1900 - 1949). The base metal appears to be brass with a nice patina.
Dragons are revered in Chinese culture and thought to rule over all creatures. Dragons are thought to be a little greedy so they are often shown in Chinese art as chasing the flaming pearl. They never catch it!
The two ginger jars are in excellent vintage condition with expected normal use. There no surface scratches. There are a few common characteristics of old cloisonné present such are tiny pit marks. There are no chips, cracks, repairs or damage.
A matching pair of vintage Chinese carved round wooden stands are included in the auction but are not original to the jars. The reddish stands are a lotus style with five small feet and match the colors in the jars nicely. The stands are in excellent vintage condition with normal wear. There are surface scratches, rubs and other signs of use. Size :H 12.5'' X W 10 with the stand,and H 11X W 10 without the stand. Stunning!!! You cannot find anywhere such a jars vases of this size and condition at this time !!The price for one each jar.
