This is an after market, microprocessor controlled "trip" computer made by OBC Products Division, Prince Corporation, Holland, Michigan. Some of the things this vehicle computer can provide (and corresponding panel buttons) are:
Estimated time of arrival (ETA)
Elapsed time (ET)
Time of day (TIME)
Time alarm (ALARM)
Miles to go on a trip (DIST TO GO)
Miles on a tank of fuel (DIST)
Your vehicle location (10/20)
Trip odometer (ODOM)
Vehicle speed (SPEED)
Instant or average miles/kilometers per gallon (MPG/KPG)
Instant or average cost per mile/kilometer (COST MI/KM)
Fuel used to date (FUEL USED)
Cost of fuel at last fill (FUEL COST)
Five location memories for way point mile/kilometer storage
Instant scan of all five memories (SCAN)
Count up or down mode for displaying vehicle location (UP/DOWN)
Run/stop mode for the vehicle position counter (RUN)
Instant update to correct for road and driving conditions (UPDATE)
Brightness control for display (BRT/DIM)
On/off display mode (ON/OFF)
Miles or kilometers selection for reading vehicle location, distance, or speed (MI/KM)
Calibrate mode (NORM/CAL)
Includes installation instructions and owner's manual.
NEVER INSTALLED--NEW OLD STOCK
Installation requires insertion of a fuel flow sensor and a speedometer sensor, plus wiring and mounting of the control panel somewhere on the dashboard. Calibration of sensors is done after installation using supplied instructions. After calibration, accuracy can be to within 0.0001% of a mile.
This is the S/C model of the computer, produced in the late 1970s. The manufacturer stated at that time that this model would work with:
All vehicles with factory speed control
All GMC
All AMC
All Chrysler (1969-1976)
Ford trucks 1 ton and over
As currently configured, the fuel flow sensor assembly used by this computer will not work with fuel injected engines.
This could be a great addition to a vintage vehicle rebuild or to add to a newer vehicle without instrumentation that provides the above detailed "trip" information.
