Seldom offerred for sale. This is the set Williams did for the 25th anniversary of the TCA (Train Collectors Association-1954-1979) to help fund the national Toy Train Museum. Has all the original packaging, paper documentation plus the TOY TRAIN MUSEUM booster cloth badge that can be sewn on coat or shirt.

The engine is cast metal powered with one "industrial" heavy duty DC motor engine..so power supply has to be DC (Like other trains do.) Instructions are included to convert to AC operation(like Lionel) if desired (simple diode conversion). This GG1 did not come with a reverse unit on board. Later one was offered for you to retrofit into it. I purchased an extra GG1 power truck and GG1 motor to convert it to future 2 motor operation but never installed them. Extra cost for me but included free with the sale for you. The other items/buildings displayed are not part of this sale.

Pantographs with black insulators (often missing) are stored in the top inside of the engine box. It runs on 3 rail track. The cars are the "heavier" thick sided castings with lots of rivet detail-very sturdy and tough feeling..just like the original Lionel Madison Postwar(1950's) cars often were paired with a Lionel scale Hudson Steamer set or the GGI Congressional set. This piece is very different and very collectible. The cars light up when put on the track.
