ATTN UTAH FARMERS/ RESIDENTS: DEVELOPERS and Govt WANT TO INCREASE TRAFFIC/POLLUTION/Waste Water/ Destroy HabitatWITH TRUCK HUBS (taking out 2200 acres of farmland and building warehouse in Spanish Fork, Tremont and Tooele. ) Heart breaking and will take so much more water year round than farmers did only in Summer.
In FOX13 story I reminded the developers to protect resources, see interview 9pm news on Mon July 17th, 2023. But we have a long way to go to help their Sustainability Engineer carefully look at scarcity of water in Utah, Protecting Migrating Bird Habitat and other important factors to consider as they are building these Inland Ports.

Watch UIPA members discuss these issues in Spanish Fork in July 2023: (As I left panel meeting with UIPA, Utah Inland Port Authority, Senators of Utah , rep Mike Schultz, superintendent of NEBO school district and other leaders,, and Spanish Fork Government meeting about the statewide Transportation ports network coming to Utah panel meeting 4 to 6pm, Fox 13 journalist Jenna Bree, jenna.bree@fox13now.com, and her cameraman asked if they could interview me, and I told them that the cities, counties and UIPA politicians on The Inland Port Authority Board and staff need to responsibly plan for protection and preservation of natural ecosystems that control hydrology cycle so we don't worsen drought and lower aquifer levels, Erosion so we don't cause flooding, and increasing Temps with more asphalt, since "Utah is increasing in temperatures 2x as fast as anywhere else," per scientists like Dr. Robert Davies of USU, and balance the farming, industrial and Natural areas. I also suggested all Utah Residents research, attend and ask questions as this statewide Inland Port system from Box Elder, Utah, Salt Lake and Tremonton Counties are planned and developed. The Spanish Fork Community & EconomicDevelopment Department Director, Dave Anderson, Danderson@spanishfork.org, 801-804-4586, and UIPA spokesperson Ben Hart, blh@utah.gov, told me during panel discussion that they would talk to me and others with sustainable resource science, examples and Solutions. From one organization: "Great Salt Lake and its wetlands are experiencing catastrophic drying and ecosystem collapse, yet the Utah Inland Port Authority plans to provide tax subsidies to an industrial development less than half a mile from the ecologically sensitive Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge and next to a designated Globally Important Bird Area."
The agency also proposes subsidizing an agricultural exporter in the Bear River basin that consumes 67.5 billion gallons of water each year in the production of 140,000 tons of hay exported internationally. The very last thing we should be doing during this time of crisis for Great Salt Lake is using public money to destroy wildlife habitat and export our water. Join us to protect Great Salt Lake and the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge at a press conference and rally Thursday, August 17 at 10 am in the Utah State Capitol Building, 1st floor, Hall of Governors.
