Jemez artist Laura Gachupin was born into the Corn Clan and has won many awards for her pottery. She is one of the leading traditional potters from Jemez pueblo. She learned to make pottery from her grandmother, Persingula Gachupin and she is a daughter of Marie Romero and a sister of Maxine Toya and the aunt of Dominique Toya. She is also the mother of potters Benina Foley and Gordon Foley. Laura has won numerous awards for her pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market, the Heard Indian Market and Gallup Ceremonials.
