This Full Size (16") Viola was. It is a Stradivarius c 1721 Premium Intermediate Model. It was built from premium tone woods (maple back and ribs and spruce top) that was air dried 14+ years and was build by one luthier from beginning to end (not an assembly line factory built instrument.) It would be a great step up from most rental instruments or "student" instruments. It has stored in a humidified area, and is in "like new" condition. Price is firm. I will only accept cash This viola's spruce top has a beautiful and well defined fine grain. The back is two piece maple with medium symmetrical striation that continues through the ribs. It is finished with a Dark German oil varnish giving the viola satin luster and allowing the wood to breathe. The nut, bridge, tailpiece and sound post were recently adjusted by a well known local luthier that I trust. The fittings (tailpiece, chin rest, and tuning pegs) are traditional ebony with birds eye inlay, The tailpiece has a Wittner Stable Style fine tuner on the A string. It has been fitted Thomastik Dominant Strings. This is a gorgeous instrument. My daughter described it's tone to me as "balanced with exceptional volume and deep resonance." The construction of this instrument is such that it will deepen and develop an even more mature tone as it is played. It includes a student style case and a nice Brazilwood bow, case straps and a small box of rosin. You would be welcome to come by and play it.
