ZelleMint condition Fuji Gran Fondo full carbon road by for sale.
The bike is super clean with very low mileage.
Retail on the stock bike was around $3000 new.
Also has some expensive upgrades:
The factory original / Oval (Fuji's house brand) crankset and brakeset were just not very good. Heavy (crankset) and heavy + weak stopping power (brakes). The rest of the groupset was Ultegra from the factory, so that was already high quality. (Ultegra is just one step down from Dura Ace--which is at the very top of the Shimano road compenent food chain.) The bike is now quite a bit lighter and has WAY more stopping power than when new.
The factory original Oval seatpost, stem, bars. and saddle were fine... workmanlike... but nothing special. I upgraded all four to lighter / better quality / carbon options. The original build kit on all bikes is about price point. Fuji wanted to be right around $3000 for this bike... so they had to use some cheaper parts to get there. I simply replaced / upgraded all of those and made it more of a $4500 bike. And replacing all the touch-points with carbon has made the ride even smoother than the original factory set up.
I was running upgraded / after-market carbon wheels on the bike for most of the time I've owned it... but put the original factory wheels back on to sell it. So those original wheels have very low miles on them. (I had to use carbon-specific pads with the carbon wheels... and mis-placed the original pads... which is why I just put brand new Dura Ace pads on the callipers after swapping the wheels back.)
The top tube is 54.5cm and the seat tube is 53cm. Fuji call this a Medium frame... and should be ideal for riders in the +/- 5'-6" to 5'-10" range (per Fuji's sizing charts).
As the name would imply, "Quite simply, a gran fondo is a long-distance bike ride for recreational cyclists of all abilities. The term ‘Gran Fondo’ is Italian and can be roughly translated as ‘Big Ride’. (Some people mistake it for grand fondo, but it’s just gran.) The gran fondo meaning, cycling-wise, is a "big ride event." So... imagine your local, annual marathon race. Anyone can sign up. The run is timed. And there are technially "winners"... but most of the runners are just participating... not competing. Now add a bicycle to that scenario and you have a gran fondo. This type of riding event is fairly common around the world today... but in the 1970's they were not... until some folks in Italy started doing it... which is why they are still called Gran Fondos worldwide.
As a nod to that history, this bike is also the colors of the Italian flag... white / red / green. The red and the green details are in metallic / pearlescent paint that really pops in the sunlight. (Which is why I special ordered the metallic red bar tape to match.)
So... this is not a racing bike... it's not a sprinting bike... it is not a pure climbing bike (though it does perfectly fine in the canyons)... it is an Endurance bike... designed to be reasonably fast and very comfortable on longer rides. So, you could ride LOTOJA on this thing... but you won't win it. :) And you can certainly do 10, 20, 30 mile rides on this bike... of course. But where it really shines is on longer rides.. 50, 60, 70, 80, 100+. (Which are actually funner than you might think... if you are on the right bike. :) The carbon layup and tube designs are engineered for compliance and soaking up road noise... vs. the stiffness of a racing or climbing frame.
