The largest building on the island is the LDS Church or maybe the small hospital. a couple gas stations and small grocery stores. The island is 38 miles long and about 10 miles wide. Molokai sits right between Oahu 26 miles away and Maui 18 miles away. To get there you fly into HNL or OGG and then take a small 8-passenger commuter plane Mokulele airways. It takes about 30 minutes and is half of the adventure. We currently own two Condos on the island and just got home from spending the last 2 weeks over there. Winters are beautiful and we even love the summers because the ocean is calm and beautiful to snorkel in. We usually go over 6 or 7 times a year and have been renting them a little to cover the cost of the HOA, insurance and utilities. The zoning they sit in is zoned apartment and not resort and Maui County is changing some of the rules so that we may not be able to rent them in the future and so we are exploring the possibility of taking on two or three partners to share the cost and enjoy Hawaii like we do. We currently have a houseboat at lake Powell and enjoy shared ownership with it. This would be set up similarly. It is owned by my Utah LLC so it would be easy to turn into a partnership and have shared ownership. The Condo is currently valued at $267,000 on Zillow. It is a one-bedroom one bath condo 690 sq ft about a ten-minute walk to the beach with beautiful ocean views on the west end of Molokai. Being on the west end of the island it is dryer and always warm with beautiful temperatures in the 70’s and low 80’s all year long. We just remodeled parts of it and it has all new furniture. $75,000 price estimate would be with 4 partners each having 3 months or around 12 weeks a year to use the Condo and Jeep. Cost with partners and not renting would be divided by 4 so around $5000/year or $400/mon per partner that splits the cost of the condo 4 ways. HOA $975 per month Electricity $150 per month Car Insurance 75 per month. Taxes $375/month. We also have a 2015 Jeep Wrangler with 50,000 miles that would be part of the partnership as well. We park it at the airport and so we always have vehicle when we fly in. The parking lot at the airport is a field so free parking.
