Military surplus item. This is the Mae West Vest worn by pilots and seen in the early war movies. This has a manufacture's date of July 1945, made by General Tire and Rubber Company and property of AF, U.S. ARMY (Air Force U.S. Army). Vest has two means of inflation, manual and CO2 (no cylinders included). Last inspection date is Jan 1946. Vest has a small pocket on each side, one is empty the other has a dye marker packet, both have strings keeping them attached to the vest. Vest is soon to be 80 years old but still in very good shape. I did not attempt to inflate this vest. For display use only.
