Very old wood shipping box crate from the late 1800s probably around 140-150 years old. Looks great for a box base for a couple of Christmas trees or plants.
W.M. Richardson was a prominent boot and shoe maker / retailer operating in Hornellsville NY (now Hornells) in the late 1800s. I've also included for refrence a screnshot from an ad listing from 1888 to help date this crate. There are logos on the box as well as handwritten notes on the sides of it. There is a hole in the base where there was a knots in the wood that fell out. Has awesome typography ghosted print, see photos.
This item is a part of American footwear history such a unique collectible antique box could be used even as a planter. It's been stored indoors and well cared for.
Size: 31"x14"x15.5"
