History explains that during the olden days, when these sandals were made for Chiefs, it was supposed to be named after the King but since the name of the King was not supposed to be mentioned in vain, they rather named the sandals after the children of the Kings and hence the nameAhenemawhich translates as "The King’s Children".
Ahenemais in two (2) main types:“AsansanTuo”which has a curved shape and“Atine”which has a practically straight shape and worn by Chiefs.
