Current unopened Humanitarian Daily Rations (HDR) cases used by both FEMA and the UN Humanitarian Services. Each HDR case has ten meal packets. And each packet contains two different meals from five different menus, for a total of twenty meals in each case. The HDR packets each contains: Two main Entrees, Two Bread/Crackers, Two Fruits/sweets, Two Spreads, and One Accessory/service/condiment pack.
These HDR meals are designed to provide a full day’s nutrition, providing more calories and essential nutrients than a single military MRE. A case of HDR’s is five pounds heavier than a standard case of US military MRE’s. All meals are vegetarian.
The HDR’s are meant to be eaten cold or at room temperature. The meals have an expected life of many more years stored in cooler locations (less than 80 degrees).
