PayPalFuji's amazing Altamira full carbon fiber road bike represents the pinnacle for both racers and road riders who place a premium on efficiency, lightness and speed. The oversize chainstays and BB86 bottom bracket provide phenomenal power transfer while eliminating excess weight, and the toothpick thin seatstays take the edge off the road through a small amount of flex, allowing you to ride all day in comfort. The tapered front end adds to that speed-through-comfort theme as well. Combine that with the wide-range Shimano 105 gearing and the lightweight Oval wheels (upgraded to even LIGHTER Rolf Prima wheels!), and the Altamira will take you to the front of the pack.
Ok... that's what Fuji's marketing folks say about the Altamira. :) I'm just gonna add that this is a fantastic, fun, smooth, comfortable road bike that pretty much does it all well... reliably... and affordably.
The frame is a 53cm--which Fuji calls a Small/Medium... which should be IDEAL for riders in the 5'-6" to 5'-9" range... but still decently rideable +/- an inch on either side of that range. (All bikes require SOME fitting to the new rider... but the closer you get to the correct ideal frame size for your height--the easier that fitting will be--and the more comfortable you will be on the bike.)
This original factory stock bike cost about $2200 new... plus the wheel upgrade ($550).
Mileage is on the low side... and it shows. (The bike barely has a scratch or scuff on it anywhere.) Shifts and brakes perfectly. Tires and tubes are great. Bar tape was "upgraded" to Lizard Skin DSP in black... and it was great when it was new... but I wouldn't use it again. So, I'd rate the bar tape as "average" condition.
Only selling because I upgraded to a newer Fuji Transonic... which is more of an aero racing bike... with a higher component level (Dura Ace)... and I just have more bikes than I really need (or have room for!) at the moment.
I've owned many a Fuji bike in my life and have loved them all; they have been making bikes since the late 1800s... so they're pretty darn good at it!
This would be a fantastic starter bike for someone just getting into the sport that doesn't want to ride a cheap, heavy, janky bike... or a great upgrade for someone that is already riding a bit... but is currently on a cheap, heavy, janky bike. :)
Speaking of weight, this bike only weighs about 18 lbs... which isn't weight-weenie light... but it's respectable.
I'm in the 9th and 9th area. Reply with any questions or to set up a test ride.
