System is comprised of 3 layers that can be removed or added as needed. The outmost layer is a waterproof shell. The middle layer is a moderate insulation layer. The inner layer is a thick insulation layer. Each layer has is own heavy duty zipper. The layers snap together so that when connected the openings of each layer stay orientated correctly. The waterproof layer is indeed waterproof. While using it, I slept through a heavy rainstorm and woke to find myself in a puddle. No water intrusion occurred. Included is stuff sack. Total of 4 pcs. System compresses surprising well and is pretty light weight for how rugged it is. Comes with a sleeping bag hanger (not pictured)
