ApplePayThis heater is a flat 6 in. silicone disc. It goes underneath a chicken waterer to keep it thawed and working in the winter. Unlike similar heaters you might see other places, this one is customized to only use 25 watts. That means it doesn't get quite as hot, so it won't melt the plastic of the waterers. It works down to about 8 or 9 degrees F. Lower than that, and the nipples will freeze. (Thankfully, that doesn't happen all that often in Utah).
It works best with the waterers that use horizontal side mounted nipples. It will not keeps cups from freezing (no heater will). I sell new chicken waterers as well ($25) that come with your choice of four nipples or two nipples and two auto-fill cups.
Using this heater will REALLY SIMPLIFY your life. No one wants to go out in the freezing cold and chip away at ice every day.
