Venmo*Tennis ball size portion of guppy grass.
Guppy Grass (scientific name: Najas guadalupensis) is a super easy, fast-growing aquarium plant that’s perfect for beginners, breeding tanks, shrimp colonies, or anyone who wants a plant that basically takes care of itself.
⸻
What Makes Guppy Grass Great • Grows fast – helps keep water clean by absorbing ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites. • Provides great cover for baby fish (especially guppies, endlers, mollies). • Doesn’t need special substrate – can be floated or planted. • Very low maintenance.
⸻
Basic Care Requirements
Condition Ideal Range Temperature 70–82°F (21–28°C) Light Low to medium; grows faster with higher light pH 6.5–7.8 Hardness Soft to hard – very adaptable Placement Floating or loosely anchored
⸻
How to Grow It
Floating is the easiest way: • Just drop it into the tank and let it form a thick mat. • This is best for breeding tanks.
If you want it planted: • Push stems gently into gravel or sand. • It may uproot easily until it takes hold, so be patient.
⸻
Trimming & Maintenance • Guppy Grass grows very fast. • Trim it back weekly or bi-weekly to prevent it from blocking all the light. • Pull apart bunches to thin it out if it gets too dense.
