ZelleSuper clean Trek 5.9 SL Pilot full carbon road bike for sale.
Ultra-light OCLV110 carbon fiber frame and fork. (These bikes are only about 16 lbs right out of the box... which is very light for a stock / factory road bike.)
The "SL" in the model # is for "Super Lite" and is reserved for models with Trek's lightest frames and build kits.
Shimano Dura Ace shifters and derailleurs. (The top of Shimano's road groupset range; "pro"-level gear.)
Bontrager Race XXX Lite carbon fiber cranks & stem
50/34 compact crankset is ideal for mountain / canyon riding.
Dura Ace 12-27 cassette is easy enough on the climbs but still plenty fast on the flats and is one of the lightest cassettes in the world--using more titanium and less steel than most cassettes.
Bontrager Race X Lite wheelset and carbon fiber ergo drop bars.
Bike was $6000 new.
The Pilot and Domane are Trek's "endurance" bikes... designed and engineered for touring and long distance riding.
These bike are very smooth and very comfortable--but still reasonably fast. (Currently geared for a top sustained speed of around 36 mph on flat terrain with neutral wind.)
Perfect for training in Emigration Canyon and Legacy Parkway and the Jordan River Trail, etc. (All things I do weekly between spring and fall.)
This bike has very low miles and it shows. Never crashed. Always stored indoors and professionally maintained... though, honestly, I've never had to do ANY maintenance or repairs on this bike. The Durra Ace components are bulletproof.
The only upgrade or mod from the original factory build is the newer Conti GrandPrix tires and newer tubes.
The "touch points" (saddle and bar tape and tires" are all in excellent condition with virtually no wear whatseover. The bike needs nothing. Ready for the road today.
Size-wise the top-tube measures around 57cm... the seat tube 54cm. (In road cycling, the top-tube measurement is the most important for sizing... since the seatpost moves up and down inside the seat tub.)
For some weird reason Trek calls this frame size a "virtual 58cm"... which I guess means that it can be ridden by a wider range of riders comfortably. (Giant does the same thing with their sizing... using "XS, S, M, L, XL" instead of the traditional "48,50,52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62cm" sizing that has been used for road bikes for decades if not centuries. This allows them to build / stock fewer frame sizes and build fewer frame molds... which of course saves them money.)
So, rider height wise, with the shorter seat tube, I'd say this bike is idea for riders in the 5'-8" range up to about 6'-1"... with about an inch of wiggle room on either side of that with a little fitting. (If you're on the shorter end of this range you might just need to swap the stem out for something a little shorter... which is super easy and affordablel.)
Currently set up for someone on the taller side of this range... with a 110mm stem with a 12 degree rise and 44cm width bars.
Road bike frames are uni-sex... so this bike will work equally well for a male or female rider in the correct height range.
Currently running standard 23mm tires... but this frame (and brakeset) will easily take 28mm tires... which are as big as you will ever need on a road bike. (Since I have multiple bikes for multiple different types of riding--including mountain and gravel--I tend to run traditional width tires on my road bikes... especially when they have as smooth a ride as this frame has.)
Will also include the (2) Rav-X carbon water bottle cages ($100 new) and he Dura Ace SPD-SL pedals ($200 new) shown in the pics. (I also have some flat pedals or basic SPD's or LOOKs or SpeedPlays if you prefer one of those types.)
Reply with any questions or to set up a time to take her for a test ride. We are in the 9th and 9th area and typically meet @ Contender Bikes.
