An icon of American musical heritage and craftsmanship, the Steinway & Sons 6’11” model B grand piano has been hand-built in New York for over a century. Considered a classic semi-concert grand piano, it strikes a perfect balance between musical performance and space-saving design, and has been a favorite of accomplished pianists for decades.
This vintage instrument was originally handcrafted in 1894, but it has been restored and offers performance rivalling today’s new instruments. It features the many of the same design and performance elements of a new Steinway B, including:
• Overstrung scale with front and rear duplexing. • Cross-laminated hard rock maple pinblock. • New 100-year nickel-blue steel tuning pins for strength and tuning stability (2024). • New Steinway Swedish steel core strings, solid and copper-wound (2024). • New Steinway premium hand-wired wool felt hammers for impeccable tone and dynamic control (2019). • New Steinway agraffes for precise intonation and harmonic quality (2024). • Quarter-sawn spruce keybed with vertical birch bracing for maximum playability, stability, and humidity escapement. • New exterior traditional satin ebonized finish for long-lasting beauty and cosmetic durability (2024). • New interior plate finish, color-matched to original spec for authentic appearance (2024). • New Steinway dampers for optimal articulation (2024). • Original solid spruce soundboard, cleaned, optimized, and refinished for perfect tone, resilience, and appearance (2024).
