Q. Can I get a heater with this?A. A heater can be purchased separately for $12. The heater goes underneath the waterer, and will keep the nipples thawed down to about 9˚ F.
Q: Can I add extra nipples?A: Yes, two more can be added on the opposite side for a max of six. Additional nipples are $2 each.
Q: Can I get autofill cups instead of nipples?
A.The default is nipples, but you can request cups instead. Cups will get dirt in them, so they need to be cleaned. They also will freeze in the winter, and a heater will not keep them thawed.
Q: What if my chickens can’t learn to use the nipples?
A: All chickens can learn to use the nipples. The key to training chickens to use the nipples is to teach them when they are thirsty so they are motivated to learn. Remove all sources of water and wait a few hours. Then, press on the center of the nipple so water drips down. As they drink from the tiny trough, they will move the center post, which releases more water.

A: I repurpose these barrels from a company that makes plant-based powder supplements. They are food-safe, and I do wash them out.
