The SuperGlide, which debuted in 2012-13, returns to K2’s 2013-14 Supermodels series of frontside-oriented women’s all-mountain system skis. With its 80 mm waist and lighter construction, it’s designed for lighter-weight experts who intend to split time evenly between groomed and ungroomed snow. It’s a metal-free, wood-core, women’s-specific K2 Bioflex2 construction, with aspen underfoot (70 percent) for strength and responsiveness and paulownia (30 percent) tip and tail for softer flex and reduced swing weight. In women’s skis, K2 uses thinner metal laminates than it the ones used in men’s skis to reduce weight and soften flex. HybriTech Sidewall construction combines a sturdy vertical sidewall underfoot for edge grip, lightweight cap fore and aft for supple flex. It’s now available flat, but also still sold as a system with an integrated 11-DIN Marker/K2 ERC binding. K2’s All-Terrain Rocker combines 70 percent camber with 30 percent tip/shovel rocker to smooth the ride, enhance forgiveness and improve soft-snow flotation. Mod Technology features an independently acting secondary core, raised above the deck, to focus power transmission where needed and reduce vibrations for better edge grip and high-speed calm.
