VenmoMeet Coyote! (aka Cayo, Yoyo, Yoti)
The Basics:
· Age: 1 year old (Birthday: December 1) · Size: ~70 lbs, expected to reach 80-90 lbs. Both parents were on the smaller side. · Vaccinations: Up to date. · Neutered: Yes. · Breed Mix: Part Akita (shedding is surprisingly manageable so far!).
His Personality: Coyote is a loyal, affectionate, and remarkably chill young dog. He forms deep bonds and is wonderfully attentive to his person. True to his Akita heritage, he is protective and naturally wary of strangers and new dogs. He definitely makes me feel safe! He is not a "dog park dog," but with the right introduction and exposure, he gets to be best friends with dogs. His energy level is a solid medium, settling into medium-low as he matures.
I've spent a decent amount of time on his training, and he has a fantastic foundation:
· Obedience: Knows sit, stay, down, place, safety, leave it, and heels beautifully. · Manners: Does not jump, respects thresholds (waits at doors/cars), waits to eat until I give him the ok. · Recall: Good in low-distraction settings; needs continued work around high distractions. · Reactivity Management: We work on it daily. When meeting new dogs on walks, he happily focuses on treats instead of reacting, but he's still a work in progress! · Adventurous Spirit: Loves to fetch, swim, and knows how to paddleboard! He's been successfully exposed to horses.
The Ideal Home:
· For: A single adult or a couple, ideally with prior dog experience. · Not For: Homes with children. He has been around them, but his protective and selective nature makes him unsuitable as a family pet. · With Other Dogs: Could thrive as a second dog, but any introduction must be slow, structured, and patient to ensure a good fit. · Owner Commitment: he needs a serious, understanding adopter who will continue his socialization and training, providing calm, confident leadership. He is worth the effort! But is not for first-time owners.
Why I'm Rehoming: Due to an unforeseen change in my life circumstances, I am now working three jobs. I can no longer provide him with the time, attention, and active life he deserves. its been a tough decision but I just want him to be happy
What He Comes With: Everything to help him settle in: his bed, food supply, collars, leashes, toys, grooming tools, treats, and his favorite dental chews (knee bones).
Next Steps: I would love to schedule a walk so Coyote can begin to get used to you in a neutral, low-pressure setting. Please only reach out if you are serious, have experience with dogs and are ready to provide a loving home. Located in SLC
