I made a mistake. I’m in my 40’s, and this was my first dirt bike. I bought it brand new when my 6-year-old got an electric bike and I wanted something to chase him around on, but this bike is way too much for me, way too fast for a first bike for a guy in his 40’s. Yes, I know… but wait, it gets worse. I tried to make it easier for me by doing a bunch of things to it:

• All custom Lucky / Laineer suspension: Fork and shock springs, Cartridge System, High/Low compression speed kit, seals… all of it. I think it was like $2700 for parts and install. Because expensive suspension will always compensate for a lack of skill and experience right?
• Full Rekluse - clutch and slave cylinder. I still have the stock clutch
• Fastway Air EXT Footpegs
• Taller, vibration-reducing bar clamps
• Hand Guards
• Precision Engineering steering dampener
• FMF turbine core exhaust - wanted to be forrest service/spark arrestor compliant
• Beta oil pump delete - I have the oil tank and all OEM parts to put back
• Extra tire
• Bike Stand
• Black plastics - because it looks good

Oil changed every ride, not because it needed it, but because it’s my first bike and I was paranoid.

About 50 hours. I don’t think the Rekluse is broken in yet.

So now I know. And yes, a very expensive mistake. I’ll switch to a 250 or 300 4-stroke to learn on for a while.
