ZelleFOR SALE 1982 Schwinn Sidewinder SW1-9, 10-Speed MTB
It's not the 1st Mountain Bike, but it's dang close.. only the 80/81 King Sting proceeded the Sidewinder in Schwinn's MTB/All Terrain bike history. In reality, this design was just a Giant BMX, double diamond frame. The Sidewinder had all the top features of the early 80s, and it was the last of Schwinn's American made bikes! Plus, they are a Blast to ride!
This beauty is a mostly original South Dakota Native, purchased new at The Bike Master in Sioux Falls, SD. We got it from the original owner who had relocated to Spearfish, SD. The Sierra Brown & Gold paint, all the decals, gold wheels with Schwinn Baloon tires, badging, bars, Suntour AG derailer & and the British Brooks saddle are the original parts it left Chicago with. The only parts that have been changed are the black grips (should have had yellow) and water bottle holder was added. Very Nice bike overall, a few scuffs and chips. The forks and seat post are bent slightly. The original owner did confess he'd jumped it few times while riding with his kids. Completely rust free and always stored inside.
As the brochure says, and I agree, "Whoever dreamed a bike this tough could look this good?"
