The Last Year of the American Made Schwinn Bicycles!
For 1983 there were some subtle changes to the Popular Sidewinder. Frame is the same, 21" double diamond, "Giant BMX" style MTB/All Terrain frame, but the Chestnut color is slightly darker than the the 82 Sierra Brown with double decals instead of the single Sidewinder decal. Handlebars were redesigned and the cross bar was removed and slimmer black comfort cushion grips added. Chrome wheels for 83, instead of Gold. The Brooks saddle was replaced with custom designed Avocet Touring Saddle. All of the mechanics are the same. Suntour AG derailer, Suntour thumb shifters and Schwinn Dia-Comp brakes in Aluminum instead of gold. Still the same, Fun & Unique riding experience!
This Excellent Original example came from the Spokane, Washington area. The original Chestnut paint is outstanding with few scuffs and scrapes. The left side Schwinn decal is damaged. Some oxidation on bare metal, and light rust stains on the tires and around some spokes from storage. This bike was barely ridden if at all. Original Schwinn Balloon tires still have the "knobbies" and the seat is near perfect! Shifts and rides like a New 1983 Schwinn! Dont miss this chance at the last of the best bikes
