Baldwin Model M Grand 5’2” piano. Early Artist Series, Very high quality build, Beautifully Restored, highly figured solid mahogany wood with a quarter sawn solid spruce soundboard and beautiful walnut dampers. This piano has spent its life in Utah.
This beautiful 1949 Baldwin Model M (serial #108248) comes from Baldwin’s pre-Artist-Series golden era. During this period, Baldwin was building pianos with craftsmanship and materials on the same level as Steinway and Mason & Hamlin. Early Baldwins are known for their strong maple rims, quality spruce soundboards, and the Scale A design that gives the Model M its warm, rich tone.
It’s a great choice for a home, teacher, or musician who wants a classic American grand with character and musical depth without paying Steinway prices.
• Case refinished – warm, beautiful appearance • Hammers reshaped for improved tone • Action regulated for smooth, even touch • Interior fully cleaned • Tuned and ready to play • Soundboard, bridges, and plate in excellent condition • Pre-Artist-Series Baldwin quality (same construction principles later used in Artist Series) • Golden-age American craftsmanship • Warm, resonant tone with impressive projection for a 5'2 grand • Highly figured walnut damper heads – a premium early Baldwin detail • Perfect soundboard • Gorgeous refinished mahogany • Ideal home size – compact but full-sounding • A high-end American piano at a far better price than Steinway or Mason & Hamlin • Cosmetics: Very good • Action: Responsive, even, regulated. A glissando on this action is simple and light. • Soundboard: Excellent • Strings: Original but clean and healthy • Plate/frame: Clean and solid • Overall: Beautiful, reliable, and musically satisfying. Original ivory keys are almost perfect with a small nick on G4 and C5. Pin block is in great condition.
$3900 obo. Open to trades for motorcycles, scooters, Milwaukee tools, and art. Cash in person sales only.
Come see and play it. Early Baldwin grands like this deliver a richness and craftsmanship that is beautiful to see and play. I don’t negotiate price over text but I try to give a reasonable discount to people that care enough to come see and play this piano in person. See Less
