VenmoVintage Pioneer PL-707 Direct Drive Turntable/record player. Full Automatic Quartz-PLL 2 speed
I think this model came out around 1980 or 81
All working great and in great condition for its age, Table, adjustable weight (Dynamic Resonance Absorber) tone arm, buttons, lights, all work as they should.
Cosmetically, Veneer is very pretty, the left back corner is chipped . The hinged cover is original with no cracks & works properly, but has minor scratches/scuffs. New needle just before stored a couple years ago. Overall, very nice well preserved & taken care of higher end turntable.
Play Video for the 1 issue (keep in mind, that the KSL player makes it look jerky, and cuts out here & there, but the in the uploaded video, it runs smoothly)
First, in the video, you see the arm at the end of the album, it lifts, returns, sets down on the arm rest, and the turntable stops as it should. Then, I press the start button, the arm lifts, travels to the edge of the record, sets down, I let it play a few seconds, press the button again, and the arm lifts, returns & sets down, and table stops, all as it should.
The issue is, as it seems to all work great and sound great, but the table doesn.t turn level as it should. I have not opened it up to try to figure it out, It seems that the direct drive could be sitting slightly off kilter or something, or ?possibly?..the shaft could be slightly bent? I have no idea how that could possibly happen, it would seem that it would have to be dropprd hard, or sustain some kind of a hard impact to do that, and I would think it would be pretty bashed up and show signs, if that were the case, so, I just have no clue what the deal could be.
It was that way when I acquired it about 10 years ago or so. I do not currently have it connected to a system, however, I have had, and not noticed any issue in sound quality or performance. I don't hear any odd noise at all, the way it turns.
Anyhow, I don't have room to set it up right now, and it isn't doing anyone any good sitting on a shelf under a cover, and someone should get some enjoyment out of it
See the photos, video & call with any questions, & thanks for looking
I'm in the South Salt Lake area near 33rd South & Main St. if you would like to arrange to pick it up
