VenmoAntique 1915 Kodak Camera Autographic Film Ball Bearing Shutter Eastman 25BT50
VPK Kodak Vest Pocket Autographic Camera 1915
The vest Pocket Kodak is an early compact folding camera introduced in 1912 by Eastman Kodak. Designed to fit neatly into the users pockets and later heavily marketed to British, American, Australian, French, Italian, and other Allied soldiers during World War I, the vest Pocket Kodak was one of the most successful cameras of its day. As befitting a camera of this era has a very limited set of controls. The lens board has no release button as it is simply pulled open.
To load and unload film, an entire panel of the VPK can be removed by setting the latch from “lock” to “open”. Once the film and empty take-up are in and the top panel replaced and locked in place, the winding knob is used to advance the film. The oblong red window found on the back of the camera is used as a frame counter (use can see this camera counter has advanced to “44”, as pictured.
This camera is in remarkable condition considering its age (please see all pictures)… considering that the camera is over 100 years old, it is in really good condition. It is recommended for purchase as a collection or display, it HASN’T been tested.
The small size meant it could be easily carried in … a vest pocket … hence the name.
This antique Kodak camera from 1915 is a true piece of history for any photography enthusiast. With its autographic film, ball bearing shutter, and Eastman 25BT50 model, it is a must have for collectors of vintage cameras.
It was used extensively during WWI and research shows it was possession of this little camera was banned. If you were found with this one you could be arrested. This did not stop the soldiers, Allies, and Germans alike from using it. The main reason for its popularity was its size and ease of use.
This version was produced, between 1915-26, and still has the autographic pen attached. There is 127 film inside –HOWEVER there is no knowing how long it has been in there. I WILL NOT ACCESS THE FILM I WILL LEAVE THAT TO THE BUYER!
Looking closer at the camera, the bellows seem fine, the corners are in good condition… this is where the damage usually occurs. This gives me hope that the camera will work! The shutter opens as it should as I could see light through the window. While the camera appears to be in VG vintage condition – I have NO WAY of guaranteeing functionality.
