PayPalThis is a handcarved Japanese chess set made in the 1950's. The board is 12" x 12" x 1.75" and the tallest pieces are just over 2". The pieces are intracately carved and very detailed. One of the rooks has a small piece that has broken off (as pictured). The board has some scratches but is in good condition considering its age. It doubles as a case for the pieces which is lined with felt. One of the felt lined dividers has become detached do to wear and the felt becoming fragile in its old age. There is paperwork from the original owners with a brief history of the set.
