VenmoVintage 1960’s Teisco ET-460 Sharkfin Guitar 4 Pickups Metallic Blue Silvertone K4L MIJ Japan
One of my all time favorite guitars of the 60’s! This one has plenty of mojo and plays really well. This is what you’d call “heavy relic” in modern parlance although this guitar has earned its marks!
Guitar was filthy when I got it so all parts were removed and given a deep cleaning. I left some discoloration as I didn’t want to remove any natural patina so please note that it all looks naturally “lived in“ and not meant to have a mirrored shine. All fastener screws have been waxed and any gears have been oiled.
A brand new set of DR “Tite-Fit” 10 gauge strings was installed. The rosewood fingerboard has been oiled. The truss rod has been adjusted and neck has low fast action with straight neck. All electronics have been spray cleaned and everything is working as intended including all 4 on/off slider switches (one for each pickup). The volume and tone pots have been sprayed and are working as intended (tone works opposite what you may think of as standard but that was the MIJ way on most of these vintage guitars). The 3 way rotary switch has Rhythm / Solo / Bass settings and I can definitely hear a difference between the Bass settings and the Solo setting but haven’t heard much of a tonal change when selecting from Solo to Rhythm. Tuner gears have been oiled and all turn nicely and are decent tuners. Frets have some indentations but appear to have plenty of life left. Tremolo tailpiece is missing the cover and also one of the rivets that attaches the shoulder part of unit is missing (see pics).
One of the coolest things about this model is this string mute. It’s missing its foam pad, but window strip insulation works well on these. If I can find some here I’ll put it on, but otherwise an easy fix if desired.
Guitar is 60 years old and as such there are dings, dents, paint chips, scratches, marks, metal pitting and/or discoloration and everything else associated with a guitar that’s been around this long.
