This fully rebuilt 1885 Hallet & Davis 6'8" grand piano is one of the most visually unique and powerful instruments in my shop right now. Built in Boston during the late 19th century, it’s been carefully restored here in our piano shop—new strings, new dampers, fully rebuilt action, new keytops and bushings, and a beautifully refinished case.
What really sets this one apart is the original, ornately decorated plate. We chose not to refinish it so we could preserve the intricate, currency-style artwork from the 1880s. That historic art is a rare find and makes this piano a true collector’s piece.
At 6'8", it delivers serious power with a rich, full tone that feels surprisingly modern—no “old piano” sound here. The touch is responsive, the bass is deep, and the treble sings beautifully. It’s a perfect blend of vintage beauty and high-level performance, ideal for serious pianists or collectors who appreciate history without sacrificing playability.
