This is a gorgeous red heart. Red is one the most collected and soft after colors in this stunning carnival glass. This is a reddish orange with blue and gold shimmers. Carnival glass is sometimes called rainbow glass, taffeta glass, or even poor mans Tiffany glass. This was first made in about 1908 by the Fenton Art Glass Company. They used iridescent metallic salts poured into the hot glass. Tiffany was selling to the rich, so Fenton wanted to sell to the middle class. They went to where the middle class were. One of the places was fairs and carnivals. Pieces of glass were given away, as novelty prizes. This turned out to be a genius marketing compaign and the sale of carnival glass was a huge hit. This is a really beautiful must see piece. It measures 6 inches wide x 6 1/4 inches tall x 1 1/2 inches deep. This bowl/dish is in excellent condition. Selling for a parent. Price is firm.
