We are looking to rehome our dog, Lenny. We just adopted him in December but they weren’t able to really give us any information about where he came from and his background. We don’t even know what breed he is, but definitely a poodle mix(he doesn’t shed and has curly hair)! We know he’s a little over a year old as well. As far as shelter dogs go, he’s a good dog, he’s just not cut out for our house. We live in a small house with little little kids and are in a very busy time of our lives. My toddlers stress him out especially when crying or throwing tantrums haha! He needs some training but I’m just not really in a place to do it right now. My husband works full time and is also working towards completing his master’s degree and is gone a lot leaving me at home with a dog that needs training, two toddlers, and a baby on the way. I think with some training he would be an incredible dog, we just don’t have the time for it. We think he may have come from an abusive background which is why he’s sensitive and protective. He’s on high alert about little sounds around the house and can get defensive if he feels like he’s in trouble. He can be wary of strangers at first but warms up quickly to most! He responds really well to praise and positive reinforcement especially when he’s in a state of high alert or being trained. He also didn’t do well with a haircut here at home, but he did really well being taken to a professional! He’s super cuddly and will happily jump up onto the couch or bed to cuddle with you. He has a lot of energy too and loves to get out of the house to chase a ball or go for a walk/run! It’s hard for me to take him and the kids on a walk because he pulls(which could be easily trained as well). He loves to play tug of war or just play with his toys around the house on his own too! He knows some tricks and loves to do tricks for treats! He would do well in a home with no little little kids, people that can get him out for walks/runs, no other dogs(we tried to introduce him to my sister’s dog and it didn’t go over well. But again, he could be trained to be around other dogs and be fine.), and with people who will love him and train him with positive words and reinforcement! We have everything you would need for him—food, bed, toys, leash, collar, shampoo, brushes, etc. Because we got him from a shelter he’s also neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped(which can be transferred to someone else). We feel strongly that Lenny has so much potential and deserves to be in a loving and forever home! Serious inquiries only please!
