• Definition: The term "Bandog" refers to a working, guardian-type dog created by crossing a mastiff-type (like English Mastiff or Cane Corso) with a bull-type (like American Pit Bull Terrier).
• Appearance: They are generally large, muscular, and powerful dogs. A Cane Corso/Pit/Mastiff mix often results in a dog weighing between 80 to over 130 pounds, inheriting a large, broad head and strong, athletic frame.
• Temperament: They are bred for protection, making them highly loyal, confident, and alert. They tend to be intense protectors of their family and territory.
• Trainability: Due to their intelligence and strength, they require firm, consistent, and early socialization/training. They are generally not recommended for first-time owners.
