Retiring soon, letting my collection go, I don’t like shipping decided to try KSL first to see if there is any local interest.
Up for sale Vintage Lionel “O” gauge prewar 260E locomotive circa 1930 to 1935 with a chugger mechanism and a pendulum 2 position reverse mechanism. The locomotive is complete with all the trim, no warping of the frame, original paint but there maybe some repainting of the frame and cow catcher. The wheels may have been replaced at some time as the originals were prone to zinc rot. The locomotive headlight and red firebox light under cab lit when power was applied, the motor ran and the chugger did work and chugged with the wheel revolutions. I did get it to reverse but it was finicky I was testing it with leads from the transformer and not on a track. There is a paper with a diagram of the position that the lever inside the cab has to be in order for the different locomotive functions to occur. I don’t have a layout as these have been on display. It may work better on level track but it will need some maintenance and adjustments to be run regularly, just know it doesn’t function very good right now
This set is highly desirable and somewhat rare these days, it comes with a matching 12 wheel tender and three 12 wheel passenger cars all with copper journals. The tender is sheet metal and die cast and shows no signs of deterioration, the 3 passenger cars are sheet metal and are two tone blue with cream colored accents. There are two 710 coaches and one 713 observation car. The cars all have lighting and are complete, the wiring is old and the wheel pickups are dirty, they will need cleaning or you will have a lot of flickering lights.
This set is good condition for 90+ years old, it has been played with and has various scratches and dings. It is complete and displays well with a nice patina, if you want it to run regularly and look new again it is an ideal candidate for a full restoration.
Asking $550 or best offer, located in Farmington, Utah. Cash only upon pickup. Questions welcome Trevor
