I am the original private pilot owner of this handheld radio, purchased new in Mar 2016 around the same time I stopped flying regularly. It was only used indoors for occasionally listening to air traffic communications. I kept it in hopes of returning to aviation someday, however I am no longer medically qualified.
Included accessories:
- ~7” helical antenna (YAESU p/n YHA-73)
- 7.2V NiMH rechargeable battery pack (YAESU p/n FNB-83)
- 120 VAC wall charger (YAESU p/n PA-44B)
- 100-240 VAC stand-up charging cradle (YAESU p/n CD-32)
- 12 VDC (cigarette lighter) sleeve charger w coiled cable (YAESU p/n CD-59)
- AA x 6 alkaline battery case (YAESU p/n FBA-25A)
- General aviation twin plug headset adapter cable (YAESU p/n CT-96)
The original NiMH battery pack seems to be working well as of Feb 2026. It has not been abused or over-charged, and it only has a few charge/discharge cycles. However, it is ten years old so I cannot guarantee its life. Replacement YAESU FNB-83 NiMH battery packs appear readily available online for $35-$40 ea.
