I have six four-packs of blue bachelor button cornflower seedlings ready to plant. These were started indoors and grown under lights so they’re healthy, established and ready to go into the ground. Bachelor button cornflowers are an easy, low-maintenance flower that does really well in Utah. Once established, they’re fairly drought tolerant, don’t need rich soil and hold up well in heat and sun. They’re loved by bees and other beneficial pollinators and bloom generously, which makes them a great choice if you want to support pollinators without having to baby your garden. They’re also a good option for newer gardeners because they transplant easily and don’t require a lot of fuss. You can plant them in garden beds, borders or mixed flower patches and they tend to keep going through the season.
