VenmoRamshorn snail are small freshwater snails commonly kept in aquariums. They’re popular because they help clean tanks and reproduce easily. Here are the basics:
Size •Usually 0.5–1 inch (1.2–2.5 cm) in diameter when fully grown. •Babies start very tiny (pinhead size) and grow over a few weeks.
What they do in an aquarium •Eat algae •Eat leftover fish food •Eat decaying plants •Help keep the tank cleaner
Reproduction •They are hermaphrodites (each snail has male and female organs). •Two snails can reproduce quickly, and sometimes even a single snail can start a colony if it was previously fertilized. •Eggs appear as clear jelly clusters on glass, plants, or decorations.
Population control
If you get too many: •Feed fish less food •Remove egg clusters •Add snail-eating fish (depending on your tank)
Temperature range
They do well in 65–80°F (18–27°C), which works for many community fish.
