I bought this bike with 15,000 miles on it. Its at about 29K now. It’s been an amazing bike to ride. Last October I rode up to the capital (as seen in one of the photos) everything was great. When I rode home, the cam timing belt broke. I’ve asked all the dealerships I’ve taken my ducatis to over the years. They’ve all said it must’ve been a faulty belt. Because I was within the maintenance guidelines and I’ve never abused the bike in any way.
Because this has an “interference engine”There is internal damage. I’ve been told it could be a little bit or a lot. I’ve been told the damage can be to the top of the engine (bent valves) which would be an easy fix and all in you would have a great bike for way under KBB. But the middle part and lower part of each cylinder needs to be taken apart and checked for piston damage and rocker arm damage. Harrison Eurosport’s quoted me about $2500-$3000 dollars to take it apart and fix it from the bottom up with new parts… IF and it’s a big IF the damage is all the way down to the rocker arms. I’m on the fence whether to fix it or sell it as is. I’m testing the waters to see if someone would like to buy it and take this on as a project. I would take the engine apart myself, but I don’t have the tools. If you are interested and serious about buying it, let’s just talk on the phone. It would be easier than typing a very lengthy description. Of all the service records.
The short story is: (summer ‘25) I had a full OEM clutch pack with springs installed, new forks seals and oil, new XW ring chain. 3 years prior New battery (always on tender) and air filter was replaced, fluids were flushed 2 years ago . As well as the timing belts replaced that somehow failed. Let me know if you’re interested or if you or someone you know would like some cash on the side to take it apart in their garage for me I’m willing to go that route because I know the bike’s history so well. The previous owner was a beginner and rode it very conservatively. Thank you.
