Vintage Hardwood Wardrobe. Grandmother-approved. Structurally immortal.
A brief history of a piece of furniture that has outlasted everything:
Sometime in the mid-to-late 1900s: A wardrobe is built. Real hardwood. Intricate carved details on every surface. Crown molding with a dentil pattern across the top. Ornate dark metal hinges and handles. Carved legs. Someone, somewhere, took their time making this thing and they were proud of it. This was not IKEA. This was a statement. This was furniture with opinions.
Decades of grandmother's house: The wardrobe stands in my grandmother's home and does exactly what it was born to do. It holds things. Important things. Grandmother things. It asks no questions. It judges no one. It simply endures, which is more than can be said for most of us.
2010: My grandmother passes away. I inherit the wardrobe. It arrives at my home and immediately makes everything else I own look shabby by comparison. The wardrobe does not apologize for this. It has standards.
2010 — present: The wardrobe reinvents itself. Repeatedly. With the quiet confidence of someone who knows they can pull off anything:
Storage unit. Flawless. TV stand. Unconventional, but committed. ️ Office closet. Frankly overqualified. Wardrobe. A full-circle moment. A return to form. The wardrobe does not say "I told you so" but we all know it's thinking it.
This morning: I measure it. 77 inches tall. 50 inches wide. 22 inches deep. It has a clothing bar that was added along the way, plus four adjustable shelves inside, making it somehow even more useful than it was when it started. The carved details are still crisp. The hardware is still ornate. The legs are still proud. This piece of furniture is in better shape than I am and it's at least as old as I am.
Right now: I am posting this ad with a slight pang of guilt because honestly, this wardrobe deserves a grand estate somewhere with high ceilings and good lighting. But it has been a loyal companion and a genuinely versatile piece of furniture, and it is time for someone who has more room — and better taste than I do — to give it the home it was always meant to have.
Dimensions: 77"H x 50"W x 22"D Hardwood. Solid. Heavy. You will need a friend. Possibly two friends. Maybe a friend with a truck and a willingness to be tested.
Asking $1000. Cash or Venmo. Local pickup only.
My grandmother had excellent taste. This wardrobe is proof. Please treat it accordingly.
Location: SAlt Lake City, Ut Serious inquiries only. This is not a particle board situation and I will not be treating it like one.
