VenmoThat’s a robust setup. With Level III plates, side armor, and trauma pads, you have what Armored Republic often calls a "Full Coverage" or "Max Coverage" bundle for the Testudo Gen 2.0.
Your Component Breakdown Level III Plates (Heritage): These are the core of your protection. They are typically made of a steel alloy and are rated by NIJ standards to stop six rounds of 7.62x51mm M80 NATO Ball (roughly equivalent to .308 Winchester). Unlike ceramic, these plates are multi-hit capable and have a 20-year shelf life. Trauma Pads: Since steel plates don't "give" much upon impact, these non-ballistic foam pads are worn behind the plates to absorb the blunt force (backface deformation). They significantly reduce the risk of secondary injuries like broken ribs or internal bruising. Side Plates: These fit into the integrated pockets of your Testudo's cummerbund. They provide vital protection for your torso's sides, which standard front and back plates leave exposed.
Pro-Tip: Proper Plate Installation Because the Testudo can hold both 10"x12" and 11"x14" plates, the front pocket has a specific internal For 10"x12" plates: Use the internal vertical straps to center the plate high in the pocket. Orientation: Ensure the side labeled "Strike Face" is facing away from your body. Trauma Pad Placement: Always place the trauma pad behind the ballistic plate (closest to your body).
Note on Health & Safety: While this gear is designed for protection, it is not a guarantee of safety. Always ensure your armor is properly fitted to cover your "cardiac box" (heart and lungs). Consult a professional if you are unsure of the fit or rating for your specific needs.
