Mase – 11 yr old Percheron/Friesian Gelding (17.2h)
Mase is an 11-year-old Percheron/Friesian cross gelding standing 17.2 hands tall and weighing approximately 1,800 lbs. He is a big, beautiful boy with a kind personality and a striking presence—complete with a big white star and long, flowing mane and tail.
Mase is very broke and extremely easy to ride. He is one of the friendliest horses you’ll meet and loves attention—he’ll even get jealous when you take another horse out instead of him! He neck reins and plow reins, responds well to leg cues, and knows all the buttons: stop, back, side pass, and spin.
He has been ridden both in the arena and out on the trail, including riding out alone, which he handles confidently. Mase has also been shown before, where he performed great in both trail and pleasure classes.
Mase has an extensive background as a jousting horse and has participated in medieval shows for the public. He was introduced to the show at just 4 years old due to his calm, easygoing nature. In recent years, he has also been used as a flag horse during fall festival opening ceremonies.
Health Note: In December 2021, Mase had both hocks fused due to arthritis. He is currently slightly lame in his right hind. He was rechecked by the vet on January 20, 2026, and is doing well, with a bit more fusing left to complete. He received a steroid injection to support the process, and the vet recommends regular work—he does best with consistent riding.
Mase would be suited for an intermediate rider and would be suitable for a beginner rider when supervised. He would make a great lesson horse or a versatile partner for trails, arena work, or even local shows and rodeos.
