We’ve owned this 1997 Moomba Boomerang since 2006, and it has been a great small‑family ski boat for us here in Utah. It’s been extremely reliable, easy to maintain, and inexpensive to own. If you’re looking for a straightforward direct‑drive that pulls strong and is ready for the water, this is a solid option.
Performance
• Easily pulls a single skier • Has pulled two skiers up at the same time without trouble • Plenty of power for tubers of all sizes • Can pull multiple tubes at once • Great for kneeboards and beginner wakeboarding • Top speed was around 44 mph the last time we checked (several years ago). We haven’t tested it recently, but the engine still runs strong.
Condition & Maintenance
• Upholstery redone last year • Floor is solid — last year I cleaned up a small area of loose plywood at the edge and reinforced it with fiberglass before installing a clean rubber mat • Only two issues in 20 years (alternator and water pump) — otherwise extremely reliable • Starts first time every season • Winterized every year with stabilized fuel and a full tank • Carburetor has never needed work and still runs great • Always kept covered; last few years stored under its own 10×15 metal carport in addition to a boat cover
Trailer
• Single‑axle trailer (no registration required in Utah) • Tires replaced a couple years ago • Tows straight • Lights and winch work • Some minor rust but overall in good shape
Extras
• Unused speed prop included • Two ski ropes • Two tubes + tow ropes • Custom tower built locally in Davis County • Boat cover included
