For small items like paperback books, Cd's, DVD's, VHS/Cassette tapes, figurines, etc. The spacing on this unit was set up mostly for VHS video, CD/DVD disks and cassette audio tapes but it's user-adjustable. The shelves are held up by four little metal or plastic pegs (two on each side) which fit into holes going down both sides. Each shelf is independently adjustable depending on which sets of holes the pegs are in.

This unit stands 5' and 3/8" tall, 11 1/8" wide and 6" deep and is designed to be set up against a wall rather than be free standing. It will stand on its own but the stability might be in question depending on the nature of the surface it's standing on and how it's loaded.

The backing material is sort of a black cardboard attached to the frame with staples. Considering that the unit was put up around 20 years ago it's little wonder that some of the staples are a bit loose. I tapped the loose ones back in and added some new staples and a few tiny nails that came with the unit for this purpose. If requested I will give you some of the nails for your own use.
