VenmoThis is a great business for kids to make some pretty good money for kids and or adults as a hobby that pays pretty well. I had a lot of success with this business and sold each board for 20 bucks easily. I was selling these at school making like 5 boards a day and even moved on to 50mm boards which I designed a mold for. I looked for a long time for a 50 mm mold and there are not a lot of cheap ones out there. You could easily make from 20-100 bucks a day depending on how much you make and your way of selling them.
Here are the steps to making each board:
Cut each veneer in half to get 2 sheets of the right size.
Use wood glue and a popsicle stick to spread the wood glue to every corner and edge of the veneer to make a stronger board.
Press the glued veneers together then put it into the mold of your choice (for 50mm you will probably need to do the split ply technique and there are tons of tutorials for that on youtube.)
Then clamp the mold into the mini vise that was provided or any bigger vise or clamp, (make sure you clamp it good to get a better and more defined lip/shape)
Wait 24 hours to dry then take out of clamp/vise and drill in the provided holes before taking it out of the mold itself.
Use the provided shapers by taking some sort of needle or nail through the holes and lining them up through the holes in the board blank and through into the other side of the shaper.
Trace with a pencil
Cut the outside corners, (don't cut too close to the traced lines ) to make it less sanding
Use a belt sander or just hand held sandpaper or a router (router is pretty hard to get the perfect shape on) I recommend the belt sander.
Print out any sort of graphic or use a laser engraver if you have one.
If you use a graphic out of paper then glue it to the bottom of the board and use sand paper, belt sander or nail file after the paper dries to make the paper attached to the board.
Use the provided polyurethane gloss to spray over the bottom of the board to make it smooth and more professional.
It works great if you have a laser engraver to engrave lightly on the griptape and the settings of 3000mm per second at the power of 20. It is completely safe to engrave on the foam griptape and I did tons of research for it. You can also cut out the board with an engraver if you want it to be perfect but I didn't mess around with that a lot.
Take off the sheet of yellow on the griptape and put it right on to the board.
Use a nail file to file the extra off. (it looks perfect and professional if you use a belt sander to sand off the extra tape.)
Take some trucks and screw them on with the yellow screwdriver.
Choose some wheel colors and use the yellow screw driver to put the nuts on.
You then have your very own professional fingerboard that you can now sell for up to $30+ depending on the quality of it.
