VenmoGreat working condition Celestron AVX Mount head (no tripod included). I originally purchased this second-hand from Cloudy Nights in spring of 2023 and have had zero issues since then. I’ve brought it to at least a dozen star parties with my Celestron C8 and it’s always tracked flawlessly for the entire evening.
Since these mounts are known to have a fairly stiff right ascension axis, I’ve swapped out the stock radial bearing with a tapered bearing. This has made balancing the mount significantly easier but has once caused the ring gear to bind up when slewing RA with the clutch disengaged. With the clutch engaged, I’ve never had issues with binding. In case you’d like to swap the old bearing back in, I have that included as well.
I’ve also modified the stock power cable with a standard 5.5mm barrel jack so you can use your own 12V supply with the mount. The stock power adapter still works great.
Also included is a Celestron polar scope.

Overall the mount is in good physical condition, however some of the plastic covers (particularly the Declination drive housing) seem to be loosely fit. I suspect some of the plastic is cracked or broken internally. This of course doesn’t affect functionality, but is still reflected in my price.
This mount has served me well for the past few years, but I’ve upgraded and no longer use this one. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. I’m asking 300 OBO cash or Venmo. Thanks for looking!
