HEAVY-DUTY ROTAX V-TWIN ENGINESDefender MAX XT was engineered with your choice of two very capable true-work powerplant options: a powerful 72-hp Rotax HD10 V-Twin tuned for serious work and a serious 61 lb-ft of torque at lower RPMs for true stump-pulling power. The versatile, economical, and work-focused Rotax HD8 V-Twin delivers 50 hp and 50 lb-ft torque still rated to tackle tough tasks.

• Reinforced heavy-duty HSLA steel chassis

BRAWN TO THE BONEThe HD8 and HD10 Defenders can pull at the top of their class with a towing capacity of 2,500-lbs (1,134 kg). A reinforced, automotive-like high-strength, low-alloy (HSLA) grade steel chassis is purpose-built to handle the strain of heavy-duty jobs. From surviving Defender Challenge test drives to our brutal Utility Test Cycle, it’s clear we’ve built it tough for every situation you’ll face.

• Dynamic Power Steering (DPS)

STEERING YOU RIGHTDynamic Power Steering (DPS) is tuned for utility while returning renowned Can-Am responsiveness for recreational riding. DPS improves steering feel in slow-speed working situations and in more technical terrain. It's also designed to offer less assistance at high speeds and more assistance at low speeds.

• 4-mode traction system

GROUNDED POWERVisco-Lok† QE front differential combines a lockable rear differential and a 4-mode traction system for multiple choices depending on terrain or task. With separate front and rear toggle switches, drivers can select between a 2x4 open rear differential for tight turning and turf protection, a 2x4 locked rear for improved 2WD traction, a 4x4 open rear for more maneuverability in rugged terrain, and a 4x4 locked rear differential for maximum traction. The rear differential is gear-on-gear to the transmission for better response, no maintenance, better efficiency, and fewer components.

• Heavy-Duty rear suspension

TTA REAR SUSPENSIONDesigned to handle both utility and recreational usage, the Defender MAX is equipped with a heavy-duty Torsional Trailing A-arms (TTA) suspension that returns a full 10-in. (25.4 cm) of travel for a smooth ride—no matter the terrain. Its architecture offers an optimal comfort and drivability in all conditions thanks to a design that minimizes camber change to maximize grip.

• Advanced VERSA-PRO bench seats

PICK-UP INSPIRED SEATINGInspired by modern trucks, the dual VERSA-PRO bench seat is engineered as a practical 40/20/40 bench that can comfortably accommodate six adults with features like profiled corners to improve entrance/exit of the cab as well as a sturdy vinyl cover for improved wear resistance. The five passenger seats have integrated hooks on their undersides and can also be flipped up to improve onboard storage. Can-Am designers also added front and rear foldable armrests with cup holders—you're welcome.

• Open dash with removable toolbox and under-dash storage

STORAGE WHERE IT COUNTSThe Defender has a total of up to 16.2 US gal (61.3 L)—including a handy, removable and water-resistant 1.7 gal (6.3 L) toolbox, an industry exclusive—to carry tools and supplies directly where they're needed. In addition, we included 6 gal (23 L) of under-dash storage with an enclosed pocket, under-seat storage, and enclosed storage above the gauges.
