VenmoBased on what I can find, this vises was manufactured between 1930 and mid 1940s. There is no date code on the spindle as you would normally find. So that is why I think it is from that era - that and the fact that it says "Chicago" as the place of manufacture. I inherited it from my father-in-law who used it in his mechanic shop in northern Arizona. He was the real Mater. His shop is gone now. But, based on when he started, the timing lines up with when he would have purchased it. It is very heavy - over 100 lb. I was going to restore it but decided to sell it in original condition. I haven't done anything to it so you can see how it came out of the shop. It operates as expected. As you can see in the pictures, it has a bent handle. I don't have the equipment to straighten it out or I would have done it. Should just require a torch and some heat. But other than that it works well.
