54cm frame is ideal for riders 5'-7" to 5'-11" but should work for someone just outside of that ideal range with a little fitting.
These bikes are incredibly light (at around 15 lbs right out of the box) and love to climb in the canyons.
This bike has a 50/34 crankset with an 11/32 cassette in the bike--giving you all the gears you should need to buzz right up the Cottonwoods... or Big Mountain Pass (one my personal favorites).
The SuperSix versions of these bikes are the pure / traditional road racers. The Synapses however were designed and engineered for the cobbled classics... like Paris-Roubaix... which are notoriously brutal on road bike frames--and riders. The carbon layup and tube shapes are varied in specific ways to absorb and deflect shocks and vibrations, isolating the rider from road chatter.... which helps reduce fatique on longer rides.
The Hi-Mod Synapse is a RACING level ENDURANCE bike... so... designed to be more comfortable in general than a pure road racing bike... but still capable of very fast speeds. (MSRP on this bike was around $8400!)
This bike is essentially flawless, with very low miles, near factory new / perfect condition. Bike has always been stored inside and meticulously maintained.
Currently has a nice set of Shimano Ultegra SPD-SL pedals on it but I have other options available... Speedplay... LOOK... TIME... etc.
