Monviso Garlic Festival Garlic to Plant Now & Harvest in July, 2027 (Originally From Christopher Ranch in Gilroy, California).
$10 bucks for 30 of them, or $.33 cents a plant.
I bought these years ago, part of a box from Christopher Ranch, that a guy sold me after he planted all he had wanted. I’ve grown the stuff for almost a decade and a half. The first two pics are the size of the plants for sale, small and tiny for this stage of their development. You’ll grow them to harvest big in 2027.
I have had many bunches of this garlic popping up this spring that would have been in the ground multiplying for a number of years, neglected. When they freeze, they split into cloves. Then the next year those split yet again, should they freeze. They then just continue to multiply, left in the ground.
Come get some of these and plant them now to then water and baby through late June at which time the tops will totally die off, but in fall you’ll see them sprout out green shoots that will persist through winter snows as the bulbs underground grow in size. Add good fertilizer and compost on the soil above them In fall and next spring at the latest to see them really grow and get big before you harvest them by the 4th of July. Super easy to grow. With pricing of food going through the roof with insane inflation by central bankers and governments looting us, it’s nice to have some food growing within your own yard. Everyone should rip out a section of lawn to put in edible things, unless they already have garden or flower beds for that need.
From the Christophwr Ranch website:
“Higher Brix
“With an origin tracing back to the Piedmont region of Italy, our seed has been selected for it’s robust and consistent flavor profile. When compared to many international varietals, our seed has consistently been proven to have the highest levels of both Brix and Allicin, the essential measurable components of what makes garlic so special. 31% HIGHER BRIX than Chinese garlic, giving our garlic a bold nutty flavor with a creamy finish.
“BRIX measures the percentage of solids in plant juice. Higher solids = higher quality = more flavor!
“More Allicin
“24% MORE ALLICIN than Chinese garlic. In sensory evaluations Monviso® outperforms Chinese garlic in richness and duration in cooking. ALLICIN is the sulphur compound created in garlic when it is crushed or chopped. Allicin gives garlic its flavorful bite and enticing aroma.”
Cash or Venmo accepted.
