2012 Sea-Doo RXT-X aS 260 The 2012 Sea-Doo RXT-X aS 260 was Sea-Doo’s rough-water performance flagship built for aggressive offshore riding. It combined the 260 HP supercharged Rotax engine with the unique “aS” (Adjustable Suspension) system, which let riders manually tune suspension stiffness for rough conditions. It sat above the standard RXT-X 260 and alongside the electronically controlled RXT iS 260. Sea-Doo designed it specifically for: - Big-water riding - Offshore cruising - Reduced rider fatigue - Aggressive chop handling Compared to the iS: - aS was simpler mechanically - slightly lighter - more performance-oriented - less electronically complex The RXT-X aS 260 was extremely fast for its era: - 0–30 mph around 1.7 seconds - Stable high-speed handling - Excellent cornering from the S3 hull - Strong rough-water performance The S3 hull was known for: - deep, planted handling - stable offshore tracking - aggressive turns - reduced porpoising in chop Features May Include: Suspension System - The adjustable suspension was the defining feature. Compression damping could be manually tuned depending on water conditions and rider preference. iBR (Intelligent Brake & Reverse) - Sea-Doo’s braking/reverse system improved docking and stopping distances substantially versus older PWCs. Reliability Reputation A well-maintained RXT-X aS 260 can still be an outstanding offshore ski today. Owners often praise: - comfort in rough water - acceleration - stable handling - long-distance capability But neglected examples can become expensive because: - suspension parts are specialized - labor access is difficult - electrical repairs can be time-consuming
